Airbus A321neo
A320neo family · First flight 2015 · In production

The Airbus A321neo is a stretched version of the A320neo with a fundamentally different commercial role. Where the A320neo competes directly with the 737-800 and MAX 8, the A321neo reaches into a market segment that Boeing has struggled to cover: medium-haul routes too long for a standard narrowbody but too short for a widebody. The A321neo carries 180 to 220 passengers in typical configurations. In its extended-range LR and XLR variants, it can fly more than 4,700 nautical miles, making it capable of transatlantic routes from the US East Coast to Europe and transpacific routes from the West Coast to Hawaii. Airlines including JetBlue, American, United, Iberia, and TAP Portugal have built significant parts of their international networks around the A321neo. It has arguably become the most strategically important single-aisle aircraft in commercial aviation.
