Airbus A380-800

A380 family · First flight 2005 · Out of production (last delivery 2021)

Airbus A380-800

The Airbus A380 is the largest commercial passenger aircraft ever built and the only full-length double-decker passenger jet in service. It entered service with Singapore Airlines in 2007 and has operated since then with a small but dedicated group of airlines, led by Emirates, which is by far the largest operator. The A380 seats 500 to 550 passengers in typical three-class configurations, though the maximum certified capacity is 853. Production ended in 2021 with the final delivery to Emirates, after Airbus concluded that the market for very large aircraft was too small to sustain continued production. The aircraft remains in service with Emirates, British Airways, Qantas, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and several other carriers, and is expected to continue flying long-haul premium routes into the 2030s. It is the quietest widebody in service by a significant margin, partly because of its four large engines spreading the sound across a wider area.
